I consider myself very lucky to have created this image. Milagro Vineyards 2006 Merlot (yet to be tasted by me!) is my all time best selling photo, looking stunning in 20"x30" size. Most people who see this image think, at first, that it is a painting. I have wondered about this for a very long time...and think that opinion comes from an amazing natural composition, that viewers immediately don't think could be natural.
But, seen in a different perspective, as a volunteer at the winery that day, with three others, we picked grapes all day at harvest time. And, with everyone looking for a photographic opportunity for me...we saw ten thousand bunches of grapes perhaps.
Isn't it more likely to find a terrific looking cluster if you have that many to choose between? Certainly...but without that perspective, it just doesn't seem possible.
