I do enjoy traditional portraits, and here are three of my favorites.   Really, this first one is not truly traditional...but Erika's Eyes just took me totally.   From a full headshot photo, reducing and reducing, I found the heart of the image...just her eyes.   Further transforming the image to intensify the effect, including the obvious black and white conversion.   Sometimes the most simple portion of an image taken, delivers the most satisfying result.  One of my small gifts over time has been to look inside one of my photo's, and fearlessly throw away the rest.   I am reminded of an advertising slogan for Marine World in the San Francisco Bay area, "come closer".   I have a tendency to come closer than most.

Desiree...a delightful young woman I met by sheer chance at a golf course where she is an event and wedding planner.   Having a very courageous moment, I stopped her, and gave her my card.  In perhaps a more courageous moment, she called me back, and we set up an appointment.   To my good fortune, when younger, she was a professional model!   I have found that most women have a totally natural sense of posing, and love the process.  A professional, however, goes way beyond that, and at times, they can be hard to keep up with!   We had a terrific afternoon, and produced a nice set of photos.  Chance encounters like this, are some of the most fun moments a photographer can have!

Oma... a human with his spirit on the outside!!!  Oma is a sculptor, and was in my gallery before my time.  I had heard of him, but had not met him.  However, while working at Spirit in Art one day, he walked in...and I did not have to ask who he was, I just knew.   I wonderful engergy of a man, he graciously accepted my request to photograph him, and the entire session lasted just a few minutes.   What can I say, simply put, when its right, its right, and it will not take long, and something wonderful will happen.   This was simply one of those moments!
