Courtesy Casa Rendeno Vineyards and Winery I have been seriously photographing for nearly 30 years. While living in California, I was able to meet and study with some of the most prestigious living photographers in America. I never gave up my own view of the world, but opened up to many other visions as well. My greatest passion still lies with black and white photographs. They offer such a unique way of presenting the world, rarely seen, and striking in their power. Also, early lessons in "environmental portraiture" taught me much about photographing people in their own "place"...at home, at work, or outdoors. This style of photography is often the most difficult, with poor lighting conditions, distractions, and the challenge of working with groups. But this effort can be tremendously rewarding to the Photographer and the subject. If done right it brings out the character of the subject like no other type of photography can, or ever will. I love to present a view that is rarely or never seen...and I have often startled my subject with images of themselves they did not know they possess! Working with a photographer over a long period of time can provide a history lesson to all who will view it! Photographic efforts about yourself can teach you much about how others can see you, and change your entire self image. These efforts require you (singular or plural) AND a photographer to work together. This creates a very important, intense, personal dynamic, and can leave both in a nealy exhausted state when all is said, photographed, and done. But this effort can also reap great rewards, in the permanent record of a very special moment in your life. If you work with a photographer, make sure you get a sense of style that fits you!!! Then, enjoy the personal exploration. But it is not only people that intrigue me... buildings, remodel projects, wineries (in particular!!), pets... life always provides images worthy of preserving, through the life itself or through the growth and accomplishment of those lives! I am allured by rich vibrant colors! I like to get "closer" to a subject than is typical. What is certain is that if I don't get an emotional connection to the subject (remember, the subject does not have to be human!) that the result will just not come alive to others! | I live in Placitas, just north of Albuquerque, 40 minutes from Santa Fe, and very available for travel.
